Authentication
Dayforce APIs support both basic and token-based authentication methods.
Basic authentication requires the caller to provide the username and password of a Web service user defined in Dayforce with each API request.
Token-based authentication allows a caller to get a token using the username and password of a Web service user and to use this token to perform the actual API calls. It reduces the risk of exposing credentials as they do not need to be sent with each API request, and the use of short-lived tokens reduces the risk of a token becoming compromised. For these reasons, Dayforce highly recommends the use of token-based authentication. Additional information for token-based authentication is available in the Token based authentication article in the Security Framework section of this site.
