Retrieve Changes Only

When a record is edited in Dayforce, its last modified timestamp is updated. This timestamp can be used to only select records that have been changed since last call. To do so, use update time filters available as parameters (i.e: filterUpdatedStart/EndDate in Get Employees, filterTransactionStart/EndTimeUTC in Get Employee Punches, etc.). To insure all changes are captured, use the end time filter value of the last call made as the start time filter value for the next call and use time intervals consistent with your call frequency (i.e, if calls for changes are made every 5 minutes, the time interval between which changes are retrieved should be 5 minutes).

In the following example, we aim to extract the reference codes of the employees changed since last call. This operation happens every five minutes.

1. At 00:05, we request xrefcodes of employees changed between 00:00 and 00:05
2. At 00:10, we request xrefcodes of employees changed between 00:05 and 00:10
3. etc.
